TaLaya is admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. She is a graduate of Rutgers Law School, Camden, earning her Juris Doctor in January 2018, a semester ahead of her class. TaLaya completed her undergraduate education at Rider University, Lawrenceville, New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, where she was an inductee into the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society.
While in law school, TaLaya engaged in opportunities that reflected her commitment to service and justice, including serving on the Bankruptcy and 501(c)(3) Pro Bono Projects. She also served as an intern for the Immigrant Justice Clinic, where she assisted in representing low-income immigrant clients in matters at the intersection between federal immigration law and state law. In addition, TaLaya volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the care of the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency. She was further recognized as the 2017 Scholarship Recipient of the Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey M. Bernadine Johnson Marshall Scholarship, as well as the Judge Joshua W. Martin, III Endowed Scholarship.
Immediately following law school, TaLaya served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lisa A. Puglisi of the New Jersey Superior Court, Ocean Vicinage, where she served primarily on the marriage dissolution docket, while studying for the bar examination. On October 25, 2018, TaLaya took the Attorney Oath for the New Jersey State Bar. She was later admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, as well. Following her clerkship, TaLaya worked as an Associate Attorney at a boutique matrimonial and family law firm located in Princeton, where she focused her practice in divorce litigation. Often finding herself drawn to matters involving business evaluations and complex equitable distribution, TaLaya yearned for a change.
In response, TaLaya founded Naturally Legal, PLLC in 2021 to provide Savvy Business Owners, Entrepreneurs, and Creatives with affordable legal and educational resources necessary to build success. The daughter of successful business owners, TaLaya fully understands the legal needs of a Savvy Business Owner and is committed to equipping you with the legal services necessary to operate your business and protect your brand. In addition to managing Naturally Legal, TaLaya serves as business administrator and legal counsel for her family’s thriving funeral services organization.
